Honey Rand

Honey Rand, PH.D., APR, Fellow PRSA

Honey Rand has more than 25 years of experience in award-winning communication strategy, planning, and implementation with water and related environmental issues. Her company, the Environmental PR Group, Inc., which was founded in 1997, deals with the public side of environmental communications, conflict and advocacy.

During her tenure as Director of Public Communication at the Southwest Florida Water Management District, public support of the District’s policies increased from 23 percent to more than 80 percent positive in less than four years.

Honey has a B.S. in Communication from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts, an M.A. in Communication with research focused in consumer behavior and media from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of South Florida. There, her research focused on communications issues related to environmental resource policy and conflict; and water supply development and allocation. She is author of the book: Water Wars: A Story of People, Politics and Power.

Honey has been an adjunct professor of communication in Environmental Science and Policy, Mass Media, and Communication Departments at the University of South Florida, is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and is designated a “Fellow” in PRSA, something she shares with only 600 other professionals in the world.
